Invisalign

Teeth tend to shift due to forces from our lips, cheek, tongue, as well as chewing.  As a result, teeth tend to become more and more crowded.  Crowded teeth are more difficult to keep clean and tend to have higher instances of gum disease.  They also tend to crack and wear faster because the chewing forces are not properly distributed.  Crowding leaves less room for the tongue and may cause an increased chance of snoring which tends to result in more clenching during sleep.  Clenching then also increases wear and cracks in teeth.  Teeth are also responsible for lip and cheek support and as they become more crowded, more wrinkles in our face tend to show.  As you can see, many problems arise from misaligned teeth, and prematurely age your smile.

Invisalign, a brand of clear aligners, are gaining a lot of popularity because of their ability to move teeth without having to go through braces.  A scan is taken of your current teeth position and is used to plan to move your teeth in a more ideal position incrementally with each aligner.  Treatment times and number of Invisalign aligners necessary vary depending on the amount of tooth movement necessary. Typically, it can range from as little as 2 months to 2 years depending on the tooth position.  Using our technology, we are able to show you your outcome, even before you begin.

Veneers

Have you ever seen Hollywood actors suddenly have gorgeous looking teeth? Many times, this is done using dental veneers.  These are thin covers that adhere to teeth to give teeth a more aesthetic look to your smile. Modern Day Dental offers a smile design to see how to best improve your smile’s appearance.  Unlike dental bonding, which may cause staining or chip overtime, veneers do not stain with wine, tea or coffee.  They are much more difficult to chip, and they tend to last much longer.  They are a popular choice for those with chipped front teeth, a gap between teeth, misshapen teeth, or other irregularities. Veneers look like natural teeth and a shade is customizable to your liking. At Modern Day Dental, we pride ourselves in the lab technicians we work with to give you the highest quality dentistry as well as aesthetics. Come in for your consultation to see what your smile could look like.

Porcelain Crowns

Over time, your teeth can get damaged from tooth decay, injuries, clenching and grinding, or just wear and tear over time. As a result, your teeth can lose the enamel that protects the tooth, and develop cracks. Cracks in teeth may not cause any pain initially until they enter the nerve or the root of the tooth. Dental crowns are tooth-shaped “caps” that can be placed over your tooth.  This tends to slow the propagation of cracks. Think of it like a snug hat for your tooth. The crown restores the tooth’s shape, size, strength and appearance.

Cracks are not the only reason to consider a crown.  Once a filling gets to be a certain size, they tend to have marginal leakage and loose structural integrity.  These are where porcelain crowns can be fabricated to match the color of the surrounding teeth and have a natural appearance. They are considered the number one standard for protecting and strengthening a tooth that cannot be repaired with fillings or other dental treatments.

Digital Smile Design

At Modern Day Dental we love our technology! Not only because it allows us to provide the best care for our patients, but it also allows us to demonstrate to our patients to see what we see.  By visualizing your teeth and smile our patients are better informed about what is necessary as well as the options out there.

During your initial appointment we will want to capture a photo of your smile. This allows us to use the photo and input it into our software to digitally plan your smile to your liking.  You will actually be able to see what your smile could look like before you even decide to move forward.  We use that software to communicate to our amazing lab technicians to see what we need to do to get to that end result. Planning with the end in mind allows us to achieve predictable, amazing results that our patients love.  Schedule your appointment and ask about our digital smile design software to see what your smile could look like.

Teeth Whitening

The best way to keep your smile healthy and bright is to look after your teeth and gums, but it’s not unusual to need a little help. You might consider teeth whitening for different reasons. Your teeth can lose their white appearance with age, but teeth can also become stained by smoking or drinking tea, coffee or red wine. These are termed extrinsic stains which whitening is quite effective in removing.  There are also intrinsic stains which can arise due to trauma or history of antibiotic use during teeth formation.  Whitening will not work effectively on intrinsic stains.

At Modern Day Dental, our professional whitening treatments quickly and safely remove stains without damaging your teeth. We’ve seen countless patients grow in confidence thanks to a brighter, whiter smile. Ask us about whitening to see if you may be a good candidate.

Dental Bonding

Dental Bonding is a dental procedure that repairs a chipped, cracked, or otherwise broken tooth. It also helps with discolored teeth, gaps between the teeth, and even lengthening a tooth that’s shorter than the rest. The tooth forms a chemical bond with composite resin that replaces areas where tooth structure is missing.

Many people are most concerned with their smile, but fixing chips and cracks is also vital for your oral health in general. It helps you chew properly and prevents further damage that could even threaten the health of the surrounding teeth.
